Thıs program supports economically disadvantaged youth, helping them and their families fulfill their aspirations of participating in amateur sports. Our vision is to ensure that all children and youth have the opportunıty to engage ın play and sportsç
Our goal is to challenge and develop players’ skills—technically, tactically, and physically. In collaboration with Free Footie, the Academy aims to provide underprivileged youth with the resources they need to excel in soccer.
Breaking Down Barriers
Mosaic Education Centre Soccer Academy is dedicated to removing the obstacles that prevent marginalized youth and their families from engaging in meaningful sports and recreational activities. By doing so, we promote healthy living and help create structured, positive after-school environments for youth from diverse backgrounds.
Research highlights that organized sports offer more than just an outlet for play. Team sports nurture relationships, fuel passion, and teach the values of sportsmanship. It also allows children to recognize their strengths and weaknesses. Importantly, soccer fosters respect for diversity, a crucial lesson in today’s increasingly multicultural world.
The critical time for children is right after school. Our Soccer for Success program, offered free of charge, ensures that kids establish healthy habits and develop essential life skills through the guidance of trained coach-mentors and family involvement.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
Young athletes are statistically more likely to maintain a healthy diet, manage their weight, and avoid smoking, drugs, and criminal behavior. Moreover, sports participation helps prevent boredom and feelings of hopelessness.
Participants in the Mosaic Education Centre Soccer Academy attend sessions twice weekly throughout the academic year. These young athletes not only receive technical soccer training but also learn about proper nutrition, health practices, and build decision-making and relationship skills with their coach-mentors and peers.
Encouraging Positive Youth Development
Sports play an important role in shaping a young person’s identity, which is a crucial part of the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Team sports also help forge friendships and build positive social interactions.
Boosting Academic Success
Involvement in sports and physical education can significantly improve a student’s attendance, behavior, and overall academic performance.
Mosaic Education Centre Soccer Academy and Gender Inclusivity in Sports
While participation in physical activities, recreational sports, and competitive events has significantly increased for women and girls over the past few decades, gender disparities persist. Despite accounting for over 50% of Canada’s population, women and girls remain underrepresented in sports and physical activities. They face more barriers than boys and men, which hinders their participation as athletes, coaches, officials, and leaders.
The Mosaic Education Centre Soccer Academy is committed to addressing these gender inequalities by creating more opportunities for girls and young women to participate in soccer and other physical activities, breaking down the societal and cultural barriers they face.
